i agree. The image of Justin Beiber has outstretched his talents and good looks. It is now the role of the producers and the media to keep his image alive and popular. They know that Justin Beiber is a gold mine, but many teenage stars in the past have faded away into obscurity. The media definately carefully constructs a way to manipulate the minds of their target audience, teenage girls, in order to make as much money as possible.

I find this an incredibly interenting take on the success of Justin Bieber. I have long wondered how he got so popular and why. I find that this explanation not only addresses his popularity, but also his sound. Originally, when Bieber's perfomances were over YouTube, he dod covers of R&B and rap, his lable then successfully changed his sound to wecome much more feminine in the intrest of his popularity.

"If I'm not mistaken, isn't it typical that the guy wins and breaks the girl's heart? Isn't the girl always the one to be made out as a prize to be won? Justin is really breaking the mold on this one."

Great observation, Nate -- but then you follow it up with saying that he is just a tool of the money-making machine. If he really is breaking the mold -- some stereotypes about masculinity -- could he also be a force for some much needed change when it comes to gender roles?

Then again, male singers have always been the one exception. They have always been allowed to have high voices and dance the night away -- so maybe Bieber isn't so radical in the end.
