Ugly Betty

While watching the show Ugly Betty in class i though it was a really good show. In the show they show a way of breaking the stereotypes of the way people think women should look. In this show it shows Betty the main character who is not that skinny , doesn't wear the nicest or newest of clothes, and also a girl who has braces get a job as a secretary at a really nice high end fashion magazine. As well of a job this show thinks its doing with breaking the stereotypes it also portrays it in a bad way. They show that the girl Betty got the job because she was a good worker or anything but because the fact that she was ugly and the father was just trying to get his son to stop sleeping with his secretaries and new that if he hired someone who was not pretty like Betty his son wouldn't. So in some ways some may think that it was even worst because she got the job because she was ugly and not because they thought she would bring anything positive to the work area.
