This sterotype isn't as strongly believed as it once was but the fact is that African American men were once viewed as kind of childish, laughing lazy kids with excellent musical ability is just wrong. This false and just morally wrong inaccurate, for those of whom were slaves i'm sure they didn't have the option to be lazy or to just sit around all day playing and laughing. They were abused and made to work for no pay and some mush put in an animal trough. The fact that any slave master would resort to endorsing this streotype is truely one of the biggest hypocrical statements of any decade. Most masters didn't lift a finger unless it was to whip one of his fatigued slaves for the piteful work they had done because they were barely fed and clothed. How can you poke fun at a group that had been degraded and enslaved only to be beaten and treated worse then any animal.
This is a clip from one of Dave Chappel's stand up routines. In this Routine dave talks about how his white friend is able to get out of many difficult situations involving the law due to the fact that he is a white man. Pretty funny stuff. Although it does naturally spark some questions about todays society. Is race a factor when it comes to the quality of service from our law enforcement here in america? Can a white man get away with thing a black ban couldn't? I'm not totally sure but i do know one thing, and its that dave is a great comedian. Enjoy guys.
The song Michael Jordan by kendrick lamar is a great example of Verbal Irony. The song on the surface is seems to be a typical rap song. His lyrics boasting many of his accomplishments, attributes and expensive purchases. With lines such as "Im 2 much for these niggaz, im 3 much for these hoes", and "i'v been popular im poppin now, every other hour paparazi come" you could easily mistake this as another cocky, materialistic rap song by another cocky materialistic rapper. But on a deeper level this song is actually a parody of many mainstream rap artists. This is kendricks imitation of the avarage rapper and his normal train of thought. He tends to mock other artists to give a better understanding of individuality showing us that anyone can be whats popular and trending, but expressing yourself in a creative and unique way takes true skill and talent.
I lead a substance analysis of the serie The Big Bang Theory in examine the satire in American culture that is reflected in this characters. As a effect, we as a society found that there are some concealed respect to gender stereotypes and social labels to the group of "scientist", corresponding in representation of the popular culture.
Wacky Pack cards are cards that show parodies of different products in modern day and take a spin on them and make them into funnier items that sell the same things. This is a parody because it is making fun of something that already exists and making it into a joke or a piece of satire. This product is satire because it critizes the products that we have and how we use them and how they can be turned into something completely ridiculous!
In this South Park episode, they have a parody of The Wheel of Fortune. In the episode there is a white man that is at the final puzzle and the category is people who annoy you. They give him the letters "ers" at the end of the word and when he says his letters there is only one missing letter so it says N-GGERS. This parody shows racism against African Americans by having the guy guess niggers and it turns out the answer is naggers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvULaoH2WoU
Within this song performed by entertainer Weird Al Yankovic titled "White and Nerdy" he does a very good job of creating a parody of stereotypes placed on both white and black people. This is a parody and not just simple humor because he changes the lyrics and feel of an original song done by black rapper Chamillionaire. He changes lyrics throughout the song from phrases such as "Ridin dirty" to "White and nerdy" and "They see me rollin" to "They see me mowin"
One of the episodes in South Park uses a lot of Parody. The African American race is being made fun of . Every black person in town is really rich. Richer than the Whites in the community. They took a sterotype and totally flipped it around. It's parody because all the black's may be rich but in reality this is not true. They are immitating the syle of an author or work for commic effect and ridicule of others.
In a new comedy show, called Key & Peele on Comedy Central, there was a skit where the two black actors, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, were in a slave auction. They were with one other black man that was very muscular. During the skit the buyers picked the big, muscular slave over Key and Peeles' charactors. They both then said, " Well i would have picked that guy too. Did you see the muscle he had on him?!" This is, to me, situational irony because the slaves both said that if they were slave owners or buyers, they would have picked the big slave too. This show is now on Comedy Central and its been said that it is a promising show. Check it out. www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/18/key-and-peele-preview-video_n ...
This clip happens to be a parody of the show "Survivor" and here some racial stereotypes are used to create a view on how the show could be racist. Towards the end you see that the all white team has an advantage over all of the other teams with different races.
The song above is an imitation of the music artist Lil Wayne. If you listen closely you can clearly hear the similarities between the two songs."A Mili" by Lil Wayne. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8Uhn-dU3Gg ) This is Funny to our modern day society because is it so obvious it is a rip off of Lil Wayne's song. It is a perfect example of a parody.
The movie Roll Bounce, was released in 2005. Starring Bow Wow and many others. In this particular scene, main character Xavier (Bow Wow) is running late bringing the trash to the curb. Local sanitation men (Charlie Murphy & Mike Epps) are waiting, having anticipated his tardiness. As they apporach to collect the trash, they collabortively set out to teach him a lesson on getting the trash out in time. In this "lecture," both men exagerrate to the point of utmost unbelief. Their lecture is clearly the hyperbolic form of satire. Both men tell of how Xavier's tardiness will lead to their unemployment and oppressed lives.
This is a video clip of a parody from the television show South Park making fun of the gas company BP for their oil spill. This is making fun of the apology made by the company to the public, however it is also a serious issue.
This sketch was done on a show called so random. In this show they take real things around us and change them to be funny. This is an example of a parody because they are taking the Dos Equis beer commerical and making it funny. They have him being the coolest kid in school instead of the most interesting man in the world. They have him doing things silly then he is selling something at the end. Like the real commercial just does serious things. different types of satire are always around. These types of humor are used in almost every movie, tv show, and other things in the media. Its a big part in our society now and will be always.
In this video they use a couple of different types of satire. They mainly use hyperbole. The video is using hyperbole by making fun of how all Obama wants is change. It is also used when Mccain is in the hosipital, if elected he would have been the oldest president. Hyperbole is used when Hilary Clinton hit Bill Clinton in the head with a frying pan for not being a elected. This video purpose is not to make fun of the canidates for president, but to lighten the backstabbing campaigning days.
