The song Michael Jordan by kendrick lamar is a great example of Verbal Irony. The song on the surface is seems to be a typical rap song. His lyrics boasting many of his accomplishments, attributes and expensive purchases. With lines such as "Im 2 much for these niggaz, im 3 much for these hoes", and "i'v been popular im poppin now, every other hour paparazi come" you could easily mistake this as another cocky, materialistic rap song by another cocky materialistic rapper. But on a deeper level this song is actually a parody of many mainstream rap artists. This is kendricks imitation of the avarage rapper and his normal train of thought. He tends to mock other artists to give a better understanding of individuality showing us that anyone can be whats popular and trending, but expressing yourself in a creative and unique way takes true skill and talent.
