Would You Confess To Something That You Knew You Didn't Do?

Well from The Crucible people were lying, being accused, hanged, pressed to death. Blood and tears were shedded in this play. I feel sorry for the people who were hanged knowing that they didnt do anything like that hurts me. It shows that people don't know how what to believe. Like why would they believe a kid over a adult? I respect those who were hanged because they didnt want to live their life on in society with a bad reputation of being a witch. Much respect goes out to you people. Honestly I would do the same thing to cause you only live a life once so make the most of it and don't get caught up in lies, betrayal, accusing and interfering with the courts. Die being honest to yourself and don't life a lie knowing that deep inside you wasn't a witch. This applies to everything in life.

Crazy Salem Girls

I honestly think the girls had nothing else to do with there lifes but cry witch. And Abigail I felt was a weak minded petty female. Who could not face the fact that John just didnt want her, and everybody that believe her was dumb. She was the main one calling people witches and doing the work of God, but she stole her uncle's money and ran away.Stealing is against the 10 comandments but they still wanted to believe her. Also, I think Mary Warren is dumb for not being able to explain herself to the court, if she told them she could faint because she made herself believe there were witches maybe the case could of got turned around. Clearly, no one taught these girls how to think for themselves and be smart.

African Crucible

The African Crucible exist in northern Angola. In 2007 Domingo, 12 years old, was accused by relatives of being a witch. When he was 12 his father died all of a sudden and doctors did not have a answer to what caused his death. Domingo's family tortured him while calling him a witch until he confessed that he was the cause of his fathers death. 432 children have been abused or abandoned after being called witches. 

Also a mother blinded her 14 year old daughter with bleach because she believed that it will help with getting rid of evil visions. A few months later a father made his son drink battery acid because he thought that his son was a witch. 

Can Barack Obama Truely Convert From One Religion to Another

 Our  country has an history of over reaction. In  the Crucible we learned about how people were accused of being witches and over reacted.  Today , based on political motives people are over reacting and accusing  our President Barack Obama is not even a real Christian. People are saying that President Barack Obama is not a Christian because he is the only president to skip the National Day Of Prayer.  Also,  they say this because when he was at Georgetown University he had them cover up all there Crosses. Although he spent his formative years in Indonesia as a practicing Muslim , President   Obama, took after his father religion as a Muslim  but then changed over to Christianity.  I suspect  that some people choose to  argue that he is not a true Christian  based more on political motaives  then on Christian princapals. Barack Obama argued that he is a Christian by choice and that  he believes that Jesus died on the Cross for our sins and he washed our sins away. Mr. H's Comment On John Proctors Teeth

Before watching the Crusiable, Mr. Heidkemp commented on John Proctors teeth when he was in jail.  We all know that was a false and way over exaggerated accusation.  Mr. Heidkemp said "his teeth are so gross you could look at him".  Mr. Proctors teeth weren't that bad, not to mention you barely saw them, I was waiting for that seen ever since he mentioned it, and I was totally disappointed.  Lesson learned: Heidkemp is an over exaggerator.

The Sounds of the Crucible

In class while watching The Crucible we were all assigned for something to be looking for while watching the movie. Some things people were looking for would be like the way the lights were, or the way the camera was positioned, or the different sounds that were being used. While i was watching the movie i was listening to the different sounds that were played. I think the sounds that the movie used were well planned. The music really made you feel what a character was feeling at that time. An example of a time when this was used was when Mary Warren told the court that the girls had been lying and making up all the times they said they saw spirits. When all the girls go into a room and corner Mary Warren they play some what of scary beating music that really makes you feel Mary Warrens fear. I think it is really cool how movies are able to play certain music that really makes you feel like your in the movie with the same emotions.

Order vs. Freedom

A reoccurring theme in American history has been the tension between two paradoxical values: collective security (order) and individual freedom. Collective security has two do with giving up individual liberties for the well being of the group. Everyone is seen as suspicious. Everyone is put under surveillance even if they don’t deserve it. The government seems to have the right to interrogate you whenever they want. With individual freedom the government takes a defensive role in by protecting the liberty of each individual, allowing the individual to act as he or she pleases as long as the individual does not infringe with the individual freedom of the others. Arthur Miller claims that “it is still possible for a man to organize his social life without repressions, and the balance has yet to be struck between order and freedom” (Miller 7). Miller was right because I believe that the balance has been struck before, at times. During Puritan, McCarthy and post 9/11 eras the government has been far from striking this balance.

Collective security is very vital to our society today. Our nation needs boundaries and limitations to protect the citizens from invasion. If we abuse this power then we will be invading our own individual freedoms, which are protected by the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution. Freedom is fundamental to our society because it is the right to your own free will. People have come to America seeking individual freedom and a new beginning but at times, America has turned into a repressive society, violating its own principles. Arthur miller claims that “it is still impossible for a man to organize his social life without repressions, and the balance has yet to be struck between order and freedom.” Miller was right, because there is no place where there aren't any repressions. During the Puritan, McCarthy and post 9/11 eras the government focused more on security than freedom. For instance, on the program Frontline, they showed how much the government spies on you during times of crisis. Overall it is like a teeter-totter and is yet to be balanced.

Salem

Wow the whole Salem witch craft thing has no common sense in it. I mean there was like no way to prove u weren't a witch. You either were one. Or you just die because u didn't confess you were even though your not. I think that the whole thing was based on hate and vengeance. Somebody did you bad u said they were a witch. You want there land, when they die u could buy it. And all the people who claimed to be possessed or something like I'm being attacked by spirits were the biggest fakes ever no joke. Salem was a tragic moment in early American history.
