Poetry, Pineapples and Penguins

I have found myself more engaged in class this week than usual.  I think the reason why I like "spending time with" poems more than books sometimes is because books are too hard to grasp.  In our class periods and wih our high school education I don't think we have the tools to really unravel a book completely.  While trying to write my Heart of Darkness paper I just kept on confusing myself and I kept finding a thesis and then I would find a contradiction.  I didn't have the time to really understand that book.  I think poems are more managable for us.  If our class is really trying we can unravel a poem in our class period and it does not feel overwhelming because we actually come to some real conclusions.  I felt like with the books we've read so far we left a lot of questions up in the air because it was too overwhelming to try and answer them.
