First, does anyone remember DEAR: drop everything and read? That's kind of sad that in 4th grade we needed clever slogans to make us read... Anyway, I only bring up 4th grade because, I just got home from what will ultimately be my last volleyball practice-- which I started playing in fourth grade. After devoting about nine years to one thing, it was a very anticlimactic experience. I feel like we will have a lot of "last times" this year. I think we all have already expereinced some too. But look on the bright side: if we think the transition from high school to college is hard, what about the one from college to the "real world"-- and I don't mean the television show on mtv (... ha ha). Jokes aside that was kinda deep, not really, but I try to pretend.
PS: I was about to write "last dance with mary jane" for my title-- trying to be clever, but I never throught about it before: Did Tom Petty (and the heartbreakers) mean last time smoking pot? or was there really someone named mary jane? and did he really have a last dance with her? woah...
Kitty, the only acronym I remember from elementary school us D.O.L. (daily oral language). I have not had any "last times" this year but I’m sure that they'll be fairly emotional. The transition from high school to college appears extremely overwhelming at the moment. But when you think about it, everyone else is going through the same ordeal. However, I’m still waiting for senioritis to kick in.

Kitty- DEAR used to be my favorite part of school, unlike the dreaded DOL and DOG days (Staiger). Anyway, I have already had a couple of "last times" and have found myself getting very emotional whenever the thought of graduation comes to my mind. Actually, last night, watching my guilty pleasure, Laguna Beach, it really hit me how much I'm going to miss everything about high school. My friends, family, teachers, OPRF, sports teams, my home, even those "school friends" who you really never get around to talking to over the summer even though you both pretend you will. College seems like such an exciting experience, however, really thinking about it, I don't think I'm quite ready. I'm way too attached and dependent on everything here. It's so sad to think that in about three more quarters, we all won't talk to 95% of the people we see on a regular basis now. My friends and I usually don't allow the c-word (college) to get brought up anymore, because it's so stressful and sad. But thanks a lot Kitty, for reminding us all of our "last times". I have already cried a coule times this year, on senior day, my last tenis practice, my final match at state, and of course, during the latest episode of Laguna Beach. I guess we'll all have to try and live it up now, because before we know it, senior year will be out the door, and we'll be taking the world on head first.

Ummm, in the OP and at Mann (represent, what what), we had a SSR, and let me tell you, Boxcar Children was the stuff. Though your post has absolutely nothing to do with our English class, it has made me rather sentimental. I too have played my last bout of soccer at OPRF, and I will miss stealing those field hockey balls. Though I have so many great memories, I try and think about what's ahead, and how this next saga of my life is just what I make it, nothing else. God knows I've had some good times and bad, but I'm not gonna rest on my laurels and let my regrets get me down. Here's to getting out of this place and going to college. I'm ready, are you?

Well Kitty, I think you addressed something that all of us will begin to worry about at one time or another, the LAST TIMES. This year is going to be full of potential last times, which should give us even more incentive to make the most of the little time we have left here. The year is flying past, and I feel like it'll be over faster than we think. Though I have to say, for all the pain and suffering this whole college process is creating, I'm pumped. The west coast betta' look out.
Oh, and I sadly can't remember any grade school antonyms. Bummer

Speaking of anti-climactic experiences, what will it be like to finish an AP test in May with the possibility that you'll never have to study that subject again? Depending on what you major in, you might take Calc in high school, for example, and avoid it in college! Sure it will be nice to have some subjects out of the way, but will you feel like you've devoted a lot of time to something that you'll never use in real life? Well, at least we won't feel this way about AP English...I think most college students have to take it no matter what.
