(after winter break)... life goes on, rah. As I sit at my computer for a school driven purpose (sigh), I long for the days when it was "acceptable" to listen to Holiday song. I couldn't ever imagine I'd write this, but I miss *N Sync... Anywho, I hope everyone's winter break was two weeks filled with sleeping in and "chill-axin." Surprisingly to me, I wasn't completely cut off from English, I spent an hour a day working on my Comparison Poem Essay-- just kidding. Only half an hour. For Christmas this year, instead of another *N Sync or Charlie's Angel's CD, my youngest older brother gave me On the Road, by Jack Kerouac. In short, this book involves self-discovery. It's a keeper and I advise everyone to read it. Well, think of things this way-- only five school days (plus finals) separate us from second semester seniors status. Kind of intense. So maybe instead of complaining about writing another essay or reading another book or studying for another test... we should do things to enjoy the last times we have like this. As they say in Costa Rica, Pura Vida!
Love that song! I used to listen to it on my turntable (seriously) with my family on Sunday mornings when I was younger. That memory alone spurred me to learn it on the piano during break, also. Yes, this comment was random, but I've got to get back into the swing of things after lack of blogging in my life.

Thanks for reminding me about "Pura Vida!" (I went on the Costa Rica trip two summers ago). Speaking of summer, people are probably wishing that winter break was actually summer break, so that we'd be free from school. There are a lot of things to look forward to before summer, though, so we're lucky that it's only January. Let's keep that in mind in the coming months.

It is hard to get back to school after that nice winter break. It was so relaxing it almost felt like summer. But I am looking forward to second semester when the pressure to succeed will hopefully simmer down.

Ah, Kitty. Always the jokester. Just kidding. Break was well, a much needed break, even though it sucked near the end because I confined myself to my house to make sure i got some homework done, even though little got done till Sunday night. We should have had finals before break so we can just enjoy our limited time off. Imagine it, a world without homework over break..... I wish. (sigh)

My older sister gave me Franny and Zooey, another classic that *sigh* I hadn't read yet. To quote you, Kitty, this book does involve some self-discovery as well, and is definitely a good read before college. It's by the same author that wrote Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger.

Winter break was a great escape from daily school life. I guess we are all experiencing that feeling of reluctance to go back to school after such a long break. This week before finals is easily the most stressful week of the entire year.
That is a little scary that we're so close to being second semester seniors. Time flies when you're blogging. It also brings to mind the impending end of our high school career.

That is indeed an awesome song! Since we're commenting about books we read over break, I read Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld. It was a very honest, and I thought pretty accurate, coming of age/self discovery type book. Also a New York Times bestseller, I think.

I agree with everyone! Winter break sped by, I've basically given up on sleeping for the next week, and I cannot wait until we are second semester seniors! (Can you believe it?) This really does not fit in here, but I want to talk about it anyway. So even though I know Mr. Heidkamp says blogging is a big deal (outside of our class also) I never really bought it. I mean, I know he went to the conference about it and there is that newspaper article up, but I thought it was just a big deal in the English department. Maybe I'm alone on that, but whatever. Anyways, I went to Mississippi over winter break to help with the Hurricane relief effort, and you would not believe how many people asked me if anyone in my group was blogging! I guess it's the thing to do now, which I was quite surprised. Sorry this is totally random, but I thought other people might be interested and/or surprised.

I have started to notice a disturbing trend. What is the deal with all this (sighing). We are not in the GOD (of Small Things). I hate to be a killjoy, but if I see a tiny glimmer of joy, I get this uncontrollable urge to just, kill it. (Once again, the lack of sarcasm is [killing] me). By the way, ah, nevermind.
Hey Jude.
