In most cases, when studying or observing nonconformists, I notice a glaring pattern that sometimes bothers me. It seems to be that in most cases we see, nonconformists are one of two things. They are either nonconformists for the sake of not conforming, or they do not conform to gain something, like attention. Obviously this is not everyone, but I do see it often. It is almost as the nonconformists are conforming as noncomformists, thus becoming what they strive not to be. What are some of your thoughts about noncomformity? Do you agree or disagree?
Meursault on the other hand, I see as the perfect noncomformist. The only gains I see from Meursault's actions are on the top layer like physical benefits, such as the feeling of swimming. He also does not consciously act as a noncomformist. He seems oblivious to why people criticize anything he does. I see Meursault as the best noncomformist. Are there any reasons that you do not think that Meursault is a nonconformist?
