I think after listening to the radio show and reading the article about apple, my opinion of them has definitely changed. But I think most of us will continue to use their products, despite the horrible conditions they are made from. In Heart of Darkness, Marlow's aunt was blind to the way the world actually works. During that time many people were naive or just did not want to know what horrible things happened in reality. But now, we have so much technology available to us and the news about these conditions are out there. I think some of us could be considered even more guilty than Marlow's aunt, because we learn about these facts, but ignore them and continue to use the products.
I think part of the problem is how widespread this issue is. Apple is not the only offender or the only company to exploit workers. Almost all tech companies use third world nations to their advantages when making products. Perhaps if this were a simple case of one company violating human rights then people would feel as though they were able to make a difference whereas with the situation today they just view it as unchangeable.

I agree. It doesn't really matter how they are made we are still going to use them because of how engrained they are in our society. It's the sad truth.

I definitely think that we are definitely more guilty than Marlow's aunt because we are aware of the reality, but we choose to be blind. I also agree that even though we now know more about the poor conditions that the workers have to endure, we will inevitably still continue to purchase Apple products. It's just the way that society is today, as sad as it really may be.
