I really enjoyed our quarencia assignment because it gave me a reason to think about what is my favorite place. When I was able to contemplate my home town of Monmouth, IL, many memories sprang out at me that I hadn't thought of in years. Monmouth is as much of a part of me as my body is, in fact, I'm here right now! When it comes to writing assignments, I usually don't like them because I don't connect with them ( yes, I know that's not the point of writing prompts for books.) But this one was very different. It allowed me to re-embrace who I truly am and what made me who I am. I'm actually kind of flabbergasted at the amount of content that was able to be used for this assignment, although beforehand, I thought I'd have trouble. I guess this a sort of thank you. So thanks!
I agree, I really liked this assignment. It was a great break from analytical essays and assignments and provided a nice outlet for writing creatively and in a more relaxed way, which I find very enjoyable. I also found it surprising how much I actually had to say about my querencia (the roof of my cousin's house), and writing this essay made me appreciate it even more than I did before. It really made me realize how much I do feel connected to that place and how great it feels to know I have that place for comfort whenever I need it.
So I also want to say thanks for this assignment! It really was a fun and personally beneficial one to write.
