Heidkamp 2007 Men's Golf Outing

Tee off times starting at 12:30, we will play a best ball 2 some.  You and your cart partner will hit each a shot and select the best ball placement to hit your next shots from. 

Cost of playing will be $50.00 for adults and $35.00 for students.  Mt. Prospect requests players be 12 years old or older.  This will include a golf cart and food and drinks after golf at John and Donna Heidkamp, just down the street from the clubhouse.

Families are welcomed to the post-golf festivities at John and Donna’s house located at, 400 S. We-Go Trail, at 5:00PM.  We will supply hot dogs, pop, and beer.

Please confirm if you are playing or if you will come to the party after golf by calling John or Donna at 847-506-9588.  I will need to confirm tee off times by Wednesday, September 26th.

Senior Heidkamps luncheon

The Senior Heidkamps luncheon at O"Donovan's on Irving Pk. in Chicago was a great success. 19 folks showed up including little Sally, granddaughter of Sally & Dan and her Aunt Dawn. Attending were Rosemary Cramer, Fran, Jerry & Donna, Sr. Margie BVM, Gene, Mary Delia, Judy & Dick Weber, Sally McCarthey, Dick & Ann, Don & Marsha, Pat Lemke, Sr. Katharine SCMM and Wally & Pat. Much good and some sad news was exchanged, songs were sung, memories shared and a lot of smiles and hugs exchanged.

Senior Heidkamp Cousins Luncheon

Attn: All you "old" Heidkamp cousins--you know who you are. In case you didn't get the word, we are meeting at O'Donavan's (formerly Schulien's) for lunch on Monday, June 18th at 11:30. We had a great time at our annual Thanksgiving gathering.  I took a few photos.  Nothing special, but there is proof that the feminist revolution has finally hit the Heidkamp clan (you'll have to skip to the dishwashing shots to see what I mean).

Happy Thanksgivng Everybody!

The Emil & Katharine Heidkamp branch of the family (most of us) are gathering for our annual Thanksgiving DInner in the Assembly Room of Immaculate Conception Church in Norwood Park, Chicago. The Don & Marsha and Dick & Ann families have drawn the short straw this year and will be hosting the event. About 70 people wll attend. This is the smaller year because the Emil Heidkamps alternate Thanksgiving with the other sides of the family. They only do it to keep the peace because we all know where everybody really wants to be.

Highlights of our gathering are two hours of wonderful appetizers , a messy male turkey carving party in the kitchen, crafts for the smaller children and an attempt by a non blood relative to smuggle a small TV set in to watch football--what else. TV's are contraband but the list opposing them gets smaller every year. And the list of vegetarians gets bigger every year. Go figure! Kay will be in from California.

Mary Lou's Memorial Mass

Yesterday at St. Andrew's Church in Romeoville, Illinois a memorial Mass celebrating the life of Mary Lou Heidkamp McCall was a beautiful tribute to a very special woman. Family members by the dozens turned out as well as a bevy of BVM's and old friends of Mary Lou and friends of Frank and Rosemary from the Carillion community,  Well over a hundred were present!

The liturgy was highlighted by the usually strong Heidkamp hymn singing. a fine homily by Father ?, and a wonderful eulogy by Frank.

Most everyone then proceded to the Carillion community clubhouse for drinks, lunch, and much more meeting, greeting, sorting out who-belonged-to-whom, and sharing stories of Mary Lou.

The highlight of the early afternoon was a concert by the  Carillion Chorus(?), forty plus men and women under the direction of Rosemary. They  serenaded us with an Oklahoma medley and oldies but goodies like "Accentuate the Positive."  They closed wiith a family traditional favorite, "Bless This House" with a final chorus led by a tape recording of Mary Lou singing it.

It was a typical Heidkamp celebration and that kind of says it all. Mary Lou would hae loved it!

ENH Annual Family Picnic

The Emil & Katharine Heidkamp branch of the Heidkamp family had our 3rd annual picnic on August 19th at the home of Betty & Dan McALeer. They have been gracious enough (and a little nuts) to have it for 3 years now since the larger family picnic ended. 81 Heidkamps (blood and in-laws) came plus two small ringers. It is always fun to throw in several ringers because people think they should know who they are and it confuses everyone.

We had our usual heaping table of appetizers plus brats and hot dogs, salads and desserts. Many people enjoyed the beautiful pool. Jim Osiol (for the second year) and Marty Gollogly won the bean bag toss game. Jim also won the water balloon throwing contest. All that and the fact he is an in-law might prevent him from being invited next year.

We all get together for Thanksgiving every year too but we still don't see enough of each other and it is wonderful to see how the kids are growing and how the old folks are aging gracefully. (Some better than others.)  Thank you, Betty & Dan and also to Bernie for giving us a chance to brag.

Herb and Mary Anne Descendents Gather

Forty seven descendents of Herbert J and Mary Anne Heidkamp gathered from June 24th through June 27th in Racine, WI.  The gathering included all twelve of their children and almost all of the spouses and grandchildren.  Mary Anne was able to come up for Sunday afternoon along with Aunt Margie, Aunt Rosemary, and Uncle Fran.  The reunion was planned around the June 24th wedding of the oldest grandchild, Kendra Heidkamp-Young to Ryan O'Rourke in Milwaukee, WI.

We have been having reunions like this every two years since 1990 alternating for the most part between Chicago area, New England area, and Kentucky/Tennessee area.  Right now we have families coming from Alaska, Arizona, and England as well as the other areas.  The reunions have been a wonderful opportunity to keep a very extended family up to date with each other and especially to build bonds between the cousins - who range in age from 5 to 29.  We anticipate in the near future that there will be more weddings to celebrate as another couple announced their engagement at this reunion.
