Hello Heidkamps, greetings and salutations from Wisconsin. The Lemke(Heidkamp),Bublitz and Bowe thanksgiving was very nice, we all gathered at Jenifer's this year.
A couple of weeks ago Aunt Kay was in town to visit with mom and they went to the Ozaukee county historical society in Port Washington to find information on the Heidkamps. I had the day off so I decided to join them. It is quite an experience to spend the day with 2 sisters who have completely different memories of the same events of their childhood,of course they both remember vividly and they are sure the other is wrong. It was very interesting and there is quite allot of information about Adolf Heidkamp. He was a well liked and well respected man in the community. On top of being a school teacher and school superintendent, he ran a newspaper, was a judge and would carry and organ to neighboring churches to play at mass for them. I have taken an interest in one of his sons,Adolf F. Heidkamp, who was also a well respected businessman. A.F. spent most of his years in the U.P. as secretary and treasurer of the Bosch brewing co. in Lake Linden Michigan. He also was vice president of a bank and was mayor of Lk. Linden for almost twenty yrs.( republican ) He never married. I would still like to know when he died and where he is buried.
I also have quite a bit of information about Grandpas (Emil N.) service in Europe during WWI. Thanks so much,Uncles Wally, Dick and Don for sharing grandpas papers and memorabilia with me.
Dave
